Since opening our doors on Melbourne Cup Day in 2005, we’ve been on a mission to redefine what it means to feel beautiful — inside and out.

Zen Hair was founded by two visionaries — Gary Shoebridge and Rik Pene — whose shared dream was to create a salon that blends artistry with authenticity.

• Gary, our Style Director, is the creative heartbeat of Zen. With a sharp eye for detail and a passion for pushing boundaries, he leads our team with vision and flair, ensuring every client leaves feeling confident, radiant, and inspired.

• Rik is the engine behind the scenes. From operations and HR to marketing and finance, his strategic mind and hands-on leadership keep Zen running smoothly — creating a seamless, welcoming experience for both clients and staff.

Together, they’ve built more than a salon — they’ve built a community.

When they’re not in the salon, Gary and Rik retreat to their peaceful 22-acre property in Beaudesert, just outside Brisbane. There, they share life with their two beloved dogs, five cheeky donkeys, and two charming chickens — a tranquil contrast to the vibrant energy of salon life.
